Elizabeth Edgar Hall Scholarships
To a struggling college student, a small gift can have a big
impact. Each spring, Elizabeth Edgar Hall, Inc. awards scholarships
of $500 to $2,500. Recipients can use their awards to:
• buy books
and other necessary school supplies
• supplement other funding sources to cover tuition or board
• pay for car insurance so they can travel to part-time jobs off campus
• keep their debt load in check
• cut back on paid work to spend more time with their children
• provide quality daycare for their children
• continue in school during times of family crisis
Types
of scholarships include:
• Elizabeth Edgar Hall Scholarships ($500 to
$2,000)
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
on a 4.0 scale.
• The Della M. Levy Scholarship ($2,500)
Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Scholarships are awarded to students at:
Colleges or
Universities in the Jacksonville, Florida area with accreditation from the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
Scholarship candidates must be undergraduate or
graduate students who:
• have completed at least 12 semester hours of college
study
• are currently enrolled and in good academic standing, with
strong
faculty recommendations
• demonstrate real financial
need
• display the ability to be
financially responsible and resourceful
• use their time and talents
effectively
• are good
communicators—both in a personal interview and in two
required personal essays that detail their
achievements, needs, and
goals for the future

Important Tips
If you are
applying for a scholarship, get started early.
Four weeks ahead:
Order transcripts
from all post-secondary schools you have attended. (This would
include any school from which you have received college credits - including
credits earned while in dual enrollment in high school). Check frequently
until you’re sure transcripts have been mailed directly to Elizabeth Edgar
Hall.
Four to six weeks ahead:
Request letters of recommendation.
At least one letter must come from an
official (teacher or administrator) at the school you are currently attending.
Letters can be sent to Elizabeth Edgar Hall by the letter writer or you may
include them with your completed application.
Two
weeks ahead:
Compose and polish your essays.
